Founder’s Greeting

Dear State of Texas Stakeholders,

A wise man once told me, “If you see the problem, you probably have the solution.”

My passion is to help MWBEs prosper. MWBEs disproportionately have fewer contract opportunities due to a lack of practical and technical knowledge and access to capital. TBA is a solution to build stronger MWBEs, which in turn will make our Texas communities better and create an environment for generational wealth and fulfilled dreams.

Small businesses have always been the backbone of our economy employing two-thirds of the private sector work force and generating more than half of the private gross domestic product. Now more than ever, small businesses are needed to be the key engine to our nation’s economic recovery through their readiness and ability to employ greater numbers of the workforce.

We must identify the opportunities and jobs of the 21st century and then elevate and prepare minority and women business enterprises (MWBEs) to seize the opportunities and fill the jobs.

Together with our Board of Directors and stakeholders, TBA is solutions oriented and seeks to work with our partners to:

• Create a pipeline of multicultural MWBEs ready for contract opportunities.

• Develop top-notch educational models that can be leveraged locally, regionally, nationally and internationally by TBA chapter networks and other member-driven organizations.

• Assist our MWBE members with access to capital.

• Equip high school and college students with the tools and resources to pursue an entrepreneurial alternative.
