Zawadi Bryant
Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder, NightLight
Zawadi Bryant is the chief operating officer and co-founder of NightLight
and brings a number of years of business process and marketing experience
to NightLight. Bryant received her B.S. and MEng in Operations Research & Industrial Engineering and an MBA in Operations Management from Cornell University.
Bryant began her career at Hewlett-Packard as a supply chain manager.
While at HP she was recognized as one of the Top 30 Black Engineers
under 30 by the Black Engineer Magazine. In addition to NightLight,
Zawadi is the Principal of Z.inc. Z.inc provides business consulting
and project management to such clients as Texas Children's Hospital,
BP and Shell.
Zawadi is committed to entrepreneurship and development of young people.
As such, she is the Community Capital Campaign Chair of the new Houston's
Texans YMCA that is currently under construction on the corner of MLK
and Griggs. Zawadi was named one of the 2009 Volunteers of the Year
for her work at the Houston Texans YMCA. She is also founder and executive
director of Dance For Life, www.dance4life.org. Dance For Life's vision
is to combat obesity through dance and spiritual wholeness. Zawadi
and
her husband, Antoine, are the co-chairs of CAAAN Houston, Cornell Alumni
Admissions Ambassador Network, where they coach and inform Houston
area students on the Cornell admissions process. Zawadi is also an active
participant in the Cornell Entrepreneurship Network. Zawadi implemented
a Youth Entrepreneurship Track for her church's youth program. A major
component of this track is to participate in the annual Lemonade Day.
The Planet ROCK youth team was one of the 2009 Most Successful Business
stands and was recognized at an awards luncheon held at the Federal
Reserve Bank of Dallas.
In addition to all these community activities, Zawadi is the proud
mother of Antoine Dakari Bryant, a precocious 20 month old boy. In
her spare
time, she likes to read, cook, run, bike and travel internationally.
