Tim Smith is a management consultant specializing in increasing profitability and operational performance of companies in transition. Throughout his career, he has worked with organizations of all sizes on efforts such as:

• Restructuring business operations to support business expansion, contraction, and transformation
  

• Developing programs for measuring and managing both

  enterprise and workflow performance
  

• Increasing enterprise productivity
  

• Developing and implementing growth strategies
  

• Increasing cash flow and profits
  

Smith has extensive experience troubleshooting business problems and guiding performance turnaround efforts. Over the years, he has specialized in enhancing the design, performance, and monitoring of business processes, and the knowledge and skills of the people who work through those processes.

Prior to founding The Plaid Group, Smith held senior management positions in three Houston-area start-up organizations. In each organization, he was responsible for designing and developing the business infrastructure necessary to deliver effective performance and consistent results.
His professional career also includes employment with the following companies:

American General Corporation (Now AIG) – Served as Director of Internal Consulting and guided the performance management efforts for one of the corporation’s largest operating companies.

Bonner & Moore Management Science – Managed software development and system implementation projects for this leading provider of planning and supply chain management solutions for the process industries.

The Trane Company – Developed and implemented strategies to increase plant productivity, improve product quality, reduce costs, and resolve labor grievances for this established manufacturer of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment.
