Board of Directors
Byron Carter
Co-founder, Pretty Quick
In 2001, Pretty Quick Delivery was founded by Byron and Linda Carter
and is emerging as the carrier of choice for hazardous material, heavy
equipment, machinery as well as other deliveries.
Byron fulfilled a dream to offer services that companies truly needed.
Inspired by a business class at LeTourneau University, he visualized
an opportunity that would take those business principles he learned and
to apply them for a greater good.
Pretty Quick opened for business March 19, 2001. After working the
phones and pounding the pavement, Byron and Pretty Quick made its
first delivery
49 days later on May 8, 2001. At the time, the company’s main focus
was delivering letters, documents, small chemicals and oilrig parts,
but
the company took note of opportunities that rival companies failed
to see. This prompted Pretty Quick to take initiative and enter into
markets
in the chemical tanker industry, over-sized and overweight equipment
and other specialized deliveries. As needs arise, Pretty Quick will
deliver a package as small as a business envelope and as large as
a container
weighing 80,000 lbs.
Pretty Quick serves 200 regular customers and maintains connections
with another 2000 other businesses needing delivery services. The company
delivers not only in Texas, but also in New York, New Jersey, California,
New Mexico, Arizona, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. In addition
to the states mentioned, the company has international connections
in
Mexico, Canada and Nigeria.
What started with a single truck has grown to a company with 10 – 15
trucks operating on a daily basis. The mission Pretty Quick embraces
is providing a customized delivery service that meets the specialized
needs of each client in a cost-effective manner through a fast and
effective service.
Byron constantly gives back to the community, is actively involved
in his church and has a passion for reaching out to young people
as a mentor.
He is a huge supporter of organizations such as Texas Business
Alliance and is a member of the Houston Minority Supplier Diversity
Council.
He is married with three children, including boy and girl twins.
